2012 Goals

Since I just finished school in May of this year, this year will not be a complete 365 days of possible debt repayment. My work situation as a server is also not completely secure in terms of income and hours available to me, so my financial goals may develop as time goes on and my situation becomes more secure. Here are my goals as set in August 2012:

  • Start doing freelance social media management. (This will improve both my resume and my income, which will be necessary as my job is closed 3 months of the year.)
  • Make more than the minimum payment to my loan each month of 2012. The minimum payment is currently just the interest on one loan, so it should not be difficult to continue doing this as I have been.
  • Put away $50 a month minimum into a vacation fund. It’s been 5 years since I have flown somewhere for vacation, or went anywhere beyond a drive away from my home, and my girlfriends and I have planned a trip at some point over winter break of 2013. Therefore, I need to ensure I at least have a little bit saved in order for this to happen.
  • Try to save up enough money to be able to get by without my serving job from January until March, 2013. My place of work closes during those months, so I am going to need to be very frugal for the next while in order to not totally go under during these months.
